The Role

We have an excellent opportunity for an experienced Administrator to join and provide support to our Medical Writing department, based in Edinburgh. You will be involved in the challenging environment of early phase clinical research and be trained in the many different aspects of administration and medical writing support tasks.

Data Sciences at Quotient Sciences comprises 6 departments (including Medical Writing) and over 80 staff and provides an expert service in the data management, analysis and medical writing of early phase clinical studies.

Working as part of the team, you will be responsible for:

  • Providing general administrative support to the medical writing department and the wider Data Sciences group, Edinburgh Office
  • Liaising with other Quotient departments e.g. Facilities, IT, HR/Training and QA
  • Assisting in the compilation and publication of clinical study reports (e.g. collating appendices, hyperlinking and creating pdf versions of the reports)
  • Assist the Medical Writing staff by performing QC tasks

This position will report to our Medical Writing Coordination Team Leader. The role also involves working closely with other staff in our Medical Writing department, the wider Data Sciences group and support staff from Facilities, IT, HR/Training and QA.

Full training will be provided in administration and medical writing coordination processes and techniques. Dependent on your development, our career pathway allows you to expand your skills over time and progress to more senior roles and tasks.

The Candidate

The successful candidate will have experience within some form of administration/support role ideally in a scientific environment (e.g. working for a research company, laboratory, academic institution, NHS etc.). Candidates must also be numerate with an eye for detail but there is no requirement for a degree.

Experience of one or more of the following would be an advantage but is not essential: GCP, GLP, GMP, clinical data management, clinical trial administration, experience collecting or performing QC of clinical or pre-clinical data or reports (e.g. toxicology reports, laboratory reports, etc.). Such experience would be more applicable to this position than a formal degree qualification.

Other essential skills and experience required are:

  • Proficient Microsoft office skills including Word and Excel
  • Good organisational skills and the ability to work to deadlines whilst maintaining quality standards
  • Attention to detail and the ability to multitask are essential
  • Effective oral and written communication skills

Applicants must have the right to work in the UK at the time of being offered employment. The role will be based in our Edinburgh office and can be full time or part-time over 5 days (Monday to Friday).
