Due to growth and expansion, we are seeking a talented commercial lawyer to take on a key role in Quotient’s Legal Team supporting the business in the UK and USA as Director, Legal Affairs.
A significant proportion of the role will be related to commercial contracts, focused on the review and negotiation of contracts as well as providing advice on data protection issues.
The role will also include assisting and/or leading on projects in other areas of business law such as corporate, disputes, mergers and acquisitions and property matters, with the support of external counsel as appropriate.
The role holder will also be expected to support more junior members of the legal team with technical queries and with their professional development.
The existing team of 4 lawyers and a paralegal work in a modern, customer focused way, utilising technology where possible to provide the best service.
We embrace flexibility and are open to candidates who wish to work in either our Nottingham or Alnwick offices, or remotely with a minimum of 1 day per week in the office once Covid restrictions ease.
The successful candidate will be legally qualified and have at least 5 years post qualification experience in commercial law, some of which will have been gained in-house. The ability to work in a fast paced and dynamic working environment is key to the success of the Director. This position would suit someone confident to engage with and advise stakeholders at all levels, as well as deliver training on legal and compliance topics.
The ideal candidate will have:
- 5 years post qualification experience in commercial law
- Experience of working in an in-house legal department
- Experience negotiating research contracts
- Good computer skills
- Knowledge and awareness of intellectual property, confidentiality and data protection principles
- An understanding of pharmaceutical or other regulated industry gained in-house or in private practice would be advantageous but not essential
- Familiarity with commercial insurances
