The Role

Be front line Procurement representative for the Nottingham and Reading sites. Responsible for the sourcing and procurement of high quality supplies, materials and services required to support the sites and various other business units at Quotient Sciences as required. Manage the Nottingham sites’ Stores and Goods Inwards department, Supplier activities and purchasing systems. Working with and reporting to the Group Director of Procurement and deputizing as/when necessary. Supporting the Group Procurement Department as necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, lead and execute purchasing strategies for site and specific spend categories as appropriate.
  • Track and report key functional metrics to reduce expenses and improve effectiveness
  • Partner with key stakeholders to develop and maintain in-depth understanding of all sites’ operations to determine essential goods and services to support the business needs.
  • Aggressively track competitive supplier sources to assure supply of the highest quality and lowest cost materials, goods and/or services in support of operations.
  • Forecast price and market trends to identify changes of balance in buyer-supplier power
  • Craft negotiation strategies and negotiate supplier contracts to ensure fair and equitable terms and conditions
  • Review and/or write supplier agreements to ensure appropriate legal terms and conditions. Seek legal review as necessary.
  • Assess, manage and mitigate risks associated with inbound supply.
  • In conjunction with the Group Director of Procurement develop and administer Purchasing policies, procedures and/or systems.
  • Drive the ESG agenda throughout the supply chain
  • Investigate and resolve local purchasing discrepancies with Suppliers and Finance.
  • Supervise and direct the work activities of subordinates to provide efficient and economical service in support of operations

Experience

  • CIPS qualified (or equivalent), coupled with extensive experience of supply chain, logistics, purchasing and procurement.
  • Experience of managing various spend categories across directs, indirects, capex and MRO
  • Knowledge of sourcing and procurement techniques as well as a dexterity in reading the market
  • Proven experience in negotiations and networking
  • Knowledge of supplier contracts and their Terms and Conditions.
  • Strong leadership capabilities
  • Knowledge of GMP and the pharmaceutical R&D environment (preferred)
  • Knowledge of Customs and importation regulations.
  • Knowledge/understanding of INCO and domestic shipping terms.
