The Role

We have an excellent career opportunity for a Laboratory Equipment Engineer at the site in Nottingham. 

This is a fundamental role; as the Laboratory Equipment Engineer you will contribute to the success of the business through effective engineering and maintenance support to the analytical laboratories.

Responsibilities include (PPM), repair and calibration of analytical equipment, installation and validation of new equipment, coordination, scheduling and performance of Planned Preventative Maintenance.

Other tasks and responsibilities include:

  • Responsible for ensuring all analytical equipment is suitably maintained, calibrated and validated to ensure compliance with cGMP and OTIF delivery of projects
  • To ensure that all Lab equipment is covered by PPM, reactive maintenance and validation activities
  • To maintain compliant status of equipment files
  • To support, coordinate and/or perform all equipment maintenance and validation activities within the analytical laboratories.
  • Coordinate, schedule and perform Planned Preventative Maintenance to ensure minimum downtime of the analytical equipment
  • To act as the first point of contact for staff to report faults/issues with equipment/facilities within the Labs; and to organise remedial work as appropriate.
  • To ensure all contractors involved with the labs are appropriately supervised and that any work performed complies with relevant working practices and HSE requirements.
  • Tracking and trending of equipment maintenance and repairs
  • Ordering, storing and organising critical spares, in a cost-efficient manner
  • Monitoring and control of maintenance and repair costs
  • To be able to perform troubleshooting and repairs on laboratory systems including HPLC/GC/Dissolution baths
  • To comply with all relevant SOP’s and keep training file up to date.
  • Escalate issues to senior management as required.

The Candidate

The successful candidate will have 5 + years’ experience within a pharmaceutical production/laboratory environment in a similar role.  An Engineering or Electrical qualification would be desirable and ideally, you will have HPLC troubleshooting and repair experience.

Other skills and experience required:

  • Ability to work to strict and tight deadlines, whilst managing multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Flexibility to work outside normal working hours when required
  • Confident working in a hazardous environment with high requirement to follow safety procedures
