The Role

Due to an internal move we have a new career opportunity in the analytical laboratories in Nottingham for a Laboratory Technician. The Laboratory Technician provides support to the scientific staff in Laboratory Areas (GMP). Responsibilities include maintaining clean/tidy Laboratories, routine calibration and equipment checks, radioactive monitoring and laboratory inspections.  

Main tasks and responsibilities will include:

  • Keeping lab areas clean and tidy including emptying/filling of glassware washer.
  • Ordering, receiving, labelling and preparing analytical reagents.
  • Performing routine cleaning and calibration of pipettes, balances as well as weekly calibration of analytical equipment.  Ensure that these activities are carried out in an efficient manner so that laboratory work can always start on time.
  • Ensure that all routine activities are carried out efficiently
  • Project work and analysis of swabs to verify effective cleaning.
  • Checking Millipore water system daily and record in logbook.
  • Booking in HPLC columns including updating the column database in MS Excel.
  • Routine emptying of laboratory and HPLC waste.
  • Radioactive monitoring of Formulation and analytical laboratories (pre-cleaning) twice weekly.
  • Issuing of logbooks for analytical equipment as required and updating the logbook database.
  • Keeping detailed and accurate records in logbooks of all work undertaken, ensuring that all records are clear, concise and legible at all times to enable for full repetition and traceability
  • Complying with all relevant SOP’s and keeping training file up to date.

The Candidate

The successful candidate will have previous laboratory experience from a similar role within in a pharmaceutical environment although this is not essential.  You will ideally be familiar with GMP and laboratory procedures.

You will have a high attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously. Previous experience of working in a hazardous environment and following safety procedures is desirable.
