Pharmaceutical Spray Drying Services

Improving the bioavailability of poorly soluble compounds through the use of spray drying.

What is spray drying?

In pharmaceutical manufacturing, the technique of spray drying involves dissolving a drug in an aqueous or organic solvent in the presence of a polymer. The solution is rapidly dried with hot gas to form a dispersion, known as a spray-dried dispersion (SDD).

Optimized for your formulation

We can develop and optimize spray-dried dispersions (SDDs) using both aqueous and organic solvent-based processing, for oral or inhaled drug delivery.

Optimized for your target batch size

We can optimize based on your batch size needs. In our drug product manufacturing facilities, we use ProCepT spray dryers for batches of up to 1 kg, and Niro Mobile Minor spray dryer for 1–10 kg batches.

Optimized for your drug product

We can support you with a spray-dried dispersion (SDD) that can be administered as a powder-in-bottle (PIB) for reconstitution prior to dosing or help further formulate as a powder-in-capsule (PIC) or tablet presentation.
